This is the video of a discussion presented by Senator Scott Ryan at the Institute of Public Affairs on 29 September 2009 about a chapter he wrote for the 100 Great Books of Liberty. For a transcript of this presentation, click here.

The Federalist Papers are 85 essays written in the 1780s arguing for the ratification of the United States Constitution. They analyse the process of government, the function of political parties, and the question of how to restrain over-mighty rulers. The Federalist Papers had a major influence on Australia’s founding fathers.
