A re-elected Turnbull Coalition Government will contribute towards essential upgrades to the historic Sunbury Memorial Hall.
Pledging $150,000, Senator the Hon Scott Ryan, Minister for Vocational Education and Skills and Liberal Senator for Victoria, joined Liberal candidate for McEwen Chris Jermyn at the hall on Tuesday.
The Turnbull Coalition Government’s grant for the hall, which is managed by Hume City Council, will help provide:
• Improved access for people with disability;
• Installation of a permanent PA system allowing functions to be held at shorter notice;
• Improved stage and facility lighting and
• Acoustic curtains
“This hall is an important asset for the Sunbury community,” Mr Jermyn said.
“I am pleased a re-elected Turnbull Coalition Government will ensure community groups can continue to host meetings, events, performances and commemorations at the Sunbury Memorial Hall.”
Senator Ryan noted the significant history of the Sunbury Memorial Hall, which began life as the Sunbury Mechanics Institute in 1885.
“Sunbury is a historic township and the community benefits from the preservation and upgrade of these local assets,” Senator Ryan said.
